VIRTUAL SUMMER CAMPS: DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Ages 5-9. June – August.

One-Week Sessions.

$50

10 hours of activities and pre-scheduled live sessions per session.  

All Sessions are virtual with materials that arrive in the mail.

Keep creativity and learning alive with our fun and unique sessions.

During the virtual camp, we’ll work with kids to tell a story through drawings, photos, videos, audio and text. Stories will be about the chosen theme for the week. We’ll then publish the story so you can share with anyone.

Sign your kids up for one or all of our fun themes and enjoy.

CAMP THEMES

Dogs Around the World

Week One: June 8 – June 12

Dogs Around the World: Did you know that dogs around the world look a little different? Write a story about dogs from different countries. What is life like for them traveling around the world? You’ll get a chance to meet real dogs from different parts of the country (virtual petting only!) and hear their story. 

Our virtual camp will be conducted through a combination of email, live video calls, and phone calls. At minimum, children will need the following to participate: access to a phone camera and the ability to send/text images and photos.

Schedule: Between assigned activities and scheduled video calls, we’ll keep your virtual camper busy, engaged and creative for 10 hours during each one-week session. Once you sign up, your virtual camper will receive materials in the mail that he/she will use during that session. Live video calls will be from 2-3pm EST each Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each session.

One-Week Session. $50

Birds Around the World and the Sounds They Make

Week Two: June 15 – June 19

Write a story about birds around the world and the sounds they make. Can you guess what sounds a beatboxing Starling and a South African hadeda make? We’ll even record you making bird sounds for your story.

Our virtual camp will be conducted through a combination of email, live video calls, and phone calls. At minimum, children will need the following to participate: access to a phone camera and the ability to send/text images and photos.

What if Your Pet Was From Another Country?

Week Three: June 22 – 26

What if your pet was from another country? Would your pet’s name be different? Would your pet look different? Would your pet have an accent? We’ll get creative in this session and write a story imagining if your pet was from a different country.

Have Fun with Puns!

Week Four: Week Four: June 28 – July 3

We’ll have a lot of fun creating a story with puns. Maybe we’ll write a story about an otter who “otter” know what we’re talking about. Or maybe we’ll write a story about a squirrel who steals tomatoes from the garden and doesn’t “carrot” at all.

Our virtual camp will be conducted through a combination of email, live video calls, and phone calls. At minimum, children will need the following to participate: access to a phone camera and the ability to send/text images and photos.

How Time Passes

Week Five: July 6 – July 10

Passing Time! What does it mean when it’s evening in one part of the world and morning in another? Is it today or tomorrow? What about when it’s winter in Brazil and summer in the USA. Is it winter or summer? Hear from a U.S. diplomat living abroad talking about time when traveling. Let your imagination soar when telling this story that crosses the international date line.

Become a Podcast Host!

Week Six: July 13 – 17

We know you have a story to share! Tell a story through a podcast. We’ll work with you to plan and record your very own podcast.

Become a Pilot!

Week Seven: July 20 – 24

A pilot spends a lot of time seeing the world through the clouds. Write a story from the perspective of a pilot flying a plane around the world. Do pilots get bored of seeing clouds all the time? Do pilots see other planes flying by? What does the earth look like to a pilot from the air?

Our virtual camp will be conducted through a combination of email, live video calls, and phone calls. At minimum, children will need the following to participate: access to a phone camera and the ability to send/text images and photos.

The Summer Learning 2020: Digital Storytelling is specifically created as a Learn From Home Resource. We recognize the significance this pandemic has on your child and on education. Parents, teachers, students and community members are finding a way to get through this together.

After seeing the many schools are closed through the end of the academic year, we compiled our workshops to offer this specialized resource. The Summer Learning 2020: Digital Storytelling is a specialized resource for distance learning and supplementing academic learning this summer. The course will enrich, engage and entertain kids through creativity, technology and the art of storytelling.

What is the age range for your Summer Virtual Camps?

Our Summer Virtual Camps are best suited for Ages 5-9.

When do the Summer Virtual Camp begin?

 

Beginning in XX, we will have start dates on Monday and Wednesday of each week. After that, we will work with you to space out the program at a pace convenient to you and the child.The entire process will take approximately 8-10 hours. Our team will work with you to space these hours out at your convenience. We recommend spacing these hours over the course of 6-8 weeks.

The entire program will be conducted remotely. The course will be conducted through a combination of email, video conference and phone calls. At minimum, children will need the following to participate: Access to a phone camera and the ability to send/text images and photos. We’ll conduct the course over video conference and phone calls.

What is your refund policy?
