Global Sleepover and KDSL Global started off the new school year for K-5 teachers and school administrators at American Curriculum in Dubai with Teacher Professional Development on September 3, 2016. Held at the Sylvan Learning UAE Center, the Workshop was an opportunity for teacher to learn new tools and new ways to bring the College, Career and Civic Life (C3) Standards to their elementary classrooms.

Teacher participants:

  • Explored and brainstormed creative ways (including the use of technology) to implement the C3 Social Studies Standards in schools and/or classrooms. Topics covered included: what exactly are the C3 standards, how can you engage students, how to bring fresh, fun and unique teaching techniques to your classroom.
  • Learned about Global Sleepover’s  storytelling, social studies and art-based curriculum which meet C3 Standards and Common Core Standards, and International Baccalaureate Primary Years. In partnership with KDSL, Global Sleepover has developed a curriculum for elementary school which teaches about UAE culture, history, language, lifestyle and global positioning and meets C3 Standards and 21st Century Skills standards.
  • Engaged in a puppet show about Bedouins as a demonstration of a project-based activity to use in the classroom immediately!
